Meet Chinua Cole - Co founder of Dadapp
Q1.What is your project about?
Dadapp is a mobile application that utilises geo-location to allow fathers to connect and meet with other fathers nearby. We’re a community platform that empowers Dads to courageously converse the unlimited facets of fatherhood.
Q2.Where did the original idea stem from?
I was listening to 4:44, an album by Jay - Z. Whilst listening, I was thinking about my relationships with my family members and close friends. I specifically started to think about my relationship with my father. He’s a great man and I consider myself very lucky to have a father like him. I thought to myself, I hope I’m a good father to my children. There’s a line in the song “Family Feud”. Jay Z says, “Nobody wins when the family feuds, we’re all screwed because we never had the tools.” That really stuck with me because then I said to myself, “what if we did have the tools.” What if I could increase engagement of fathers globally and what it would mean for humanity if I did?
Q3. What challenges have you experienced in your journey so far?
Apart from money constraints, the biggest challenge has got to be balancing full-time work and progressing my business. The fact I don’t have a team has me wearing many different hats. I’m constantly trying to build my skills and connect with like-minded people. They glamorise starting your own thing but it’s far from glamorous!
Q4. What is that you are trying to achieve by the end of the year?
Numerically, I want to gain 1,000 users on Dadapp. Ethically, I want to hear success stories from dads from all over the world about how Dadapp has supported them through fatherhood. Lastly, I want to meet Jay Z and say thank you. (A man can dream!)
Q5. What do you want the legacy of your project to be known for?
The app that supported fathers to be better that resulted in families being more wholesome which in turn created happier human beings.
